I use hypnotherapy to help client's who want to stop smoking or lose weight. I also treat client's who want to change unwanted behaviour such as addictions, habits, anxieties, fears and phobia's etc.
Treatment can help those in dysfunctional relationships, or who lack confidence or have had traumatic experiences in the past that effects them adversely. Hypnotherapy is all about the successful resolution of internal conflict.
Obviously for someone to change, they have to want to change so I strongly encourage client's to practice the
self-help tips and techniques set out on this site to re-enforce the changes they want.
I specialise in helping clients stop smoking and included with the hypnotherapy session is a CD set which can be used as back-up. The Stop Smoking Filthy Habit CD Set is also available on its own.

How we do it
I normally use suggestion hypnotherapy to create the desired changes but at times I use Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) or other techniques available.
Suggestion hypnotherapy works by me talking you down into a very relaxed state or trance and then delivering agreed upon suggestion specifically related to your issue.
Upon returning to full awareness, clients normally feel relaxed and report that they feel less troubled or not troubled at all about their presenting issue.

Why it works
When an individual is in the relaxed, trance or 'Alpha State', their brainwaves normally slow down to between 8-13 waves per second (fully conscious state 13-38 waves per second). For a more detailed explanation please click hypnotherapy.
In this relaxed but aware state, they become more susceptable to accept the suggestions made to them relating to their issue. At this point I deliver the suggestions and then brings them back to full awareness.
The effect can be sudden or more subtle and prolonged but normally the end result is that they feel differently about the presenting issue without conscious effort. Many issues are resolved with just one session but an additional sesson or two, or some self-hypnosis can help re-enforce the suggestions made.

The process of me gathering information about your issue is considered by most to be an unburdening of pent up emotion which frequently helps clients 'feel better'. Obviously your session will be conducted in strict confidence enabling you to speak freely about your issues.
Modern society has many distractions such as mobile phones etc and individuals can rarely relax fully and switch off their thoughts. Clients report that this is exactly what hypnotherapy does allowing this brief but intense period of relaxation to help reduce or resolve your unwanted feelings and behaviour.

Treatment at your home
Many clients report that they feel more comfortable having hypnotherapy conducted at home. Also, many clients find transport to and from a consultation difficult and expensive so I specialise in conducting home visits.
I cover the whole of the North East including Tyne and Wear (Tyneside), Co Durham, Teesside (Cleveland) and North Yorkshire. I am in the Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland area for part of my time and in the Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough area for part.
I have consulting rooms in Newcastle, Chester le Street, Durham, Bishop Auckland and Darlington for clients who prefer that option.

When a client experiences emotional or behavioural difficulties, the problem can be a habitual inappropriate response to a stress stimulus. Hypnotherapy seeks to induce the client into a very relaxed state (or trance) and then guide the subconscious through the process of finding alternative responses to the stress stimulus.
Once the client finds new responses to the stress stimulus, problem issues frequently diminish or disappear. For those who attain only a partial resolution to their issues, new stress responses should be developed using repetition, self-hypnosis or additional treatment to re-enforce the changes.
The self-help techniques explain how lifestyle changes can be enjoyable and easy to achieve. In addition, clients learn a self-hypnosis procedure on their first session and are encouraged to practice at home assessing their own level of improvement after each session.
